Announcement of the winners of the 360 Tournament for Québec’s future HR/IR professionals

After a competition featuring 13 teams from 11 Quebec universities, the team from HEC Montréal took first place at the first 360 Tournament for Quebec’s future HR/IR professionals.

The 360 Tournament is the only event of its kind for future HR and IR professionals organized by practitioners in the field. It gives students from all Quebec universities offering a human resources or industrial relations program the opportunity to match wits in a high-level competition. Participants were evaluated by a team of six HR vice presidents over the course of three events. Organized by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés, the 360 Tournament brings together students, academics and business people from the four corners of Quebec. “The 360 Tournament is an exceptional opportunity for students to test their knowledge and come in contact with the real working world. It’s also an occasion for the Ordre to promote the potential of future HR and IR professionals among employers,” explained Florent Francoeur, CHRP, Ordre President and CEO.

HEC Montréal team takes top honours
In addition to walking away with first place, each member of the HEC Montréal team ‒ Lucia Aguilar, Laurence Bourgouin, Jeanne Worthington, Vicky Boissonneault and coach Marc-Antonin Hennebert ‒ received a $1,000 scholarship from the Ordre’s Foundation.

UQAM’s École des sciences de la gestion and Université de Sherbrooke take second and third place
Second place went to the team from UQAM’s École des sciences de la gestion, comprised of Erica Zidor, Valérie Dubois, Mathieu Perrier, Aude Robert and Justine Forget, and coached by Nathalie Lemieux, CHRP. Each team member received a scholarship worth $750 awarded by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés.

Third place was won by the team from Université de Sherbrooke, including Dajana Popara, Evelyne Lafond, Gabrielle Marchand, Katherine Provençal Gadreau, LillyAnn Provencher-Leduc, and coach André Petit. Each team member was awarded a $500 scholarship offered the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés.

And the Public’s Choices are ...
Ordre members (CHRPs and CIRCs), the academic community and the public were invited to vote for their favourite among the three teams that earned the best marks for each of the first two events. After the votes were counted, Public’s Choice Awards were presented to the team from Université de Montréal, made up of Geneviève Bouchard, Mila Sofia Cifola, Corinne Corneau-Gauvin, Ronald Pierre-Charles, Chloé T. Bourassa and coach Émilie Genin, CHRP, and the team from UQAM’s École des sciences de la gestion, comprised of Georges Amoule, Rachel Boisvert Désilets, Francis Gosselin, Catherine Martin, Charles Morin and coach Nathalie Lemieux, CHRP.

The 360 Tournament is a way for the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés to showcase the dynamic energy of the upcoming generation of HR and IR professionals in Quebec. “The level of participation and the quality of the analyses and presentations submitted in this first 360 Tournament clearly indicate ‘mission accomplished’,” concluded Francoeur. The Ordre looks forward to welcoming all Quebec universities to the second edition of the 360 Tournament in March 2014!
