Two HR professionals honoured at the 2007 Défi Meilleurs Employeurs gala during the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés conference

The Ordre des CRHA et CRIA du Québec presented its Professionnel émérite award to two of its members yesterday evening at the Défi Meilleurs Employeurs gala, which was held as part of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés conference and attended by Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity Sam Hamad and some 1,500 other guests.

Presented each year at the Order’s annual conference, this award recognizes the remarkable achievements of CHRPs and CIRCs who, throughout their careers, have demonstrated innovation, leadership and an exceptional vision of HR management and industrial relations in an organizational environment.

2007 winners of the Order’s Professionnel émérite award
This year’s winners of this prestigious award are Normand Charron, CHRP and Pierre-Richard Côté, CIRC.

Normand Charron is particularly known for his exceptional teamwork skills that enabled him to meet the challenge of reopening the PACCAR plant at Sainte-Thérèse, which had been closed for years and had experienced numerous union problems in the past. His efforts led to an impressive 80% reduction in the plant’s accident rate, a 68% rise in productivity, and more than doubled workforce efficiency. In addition, the Sainte-Thérèse plant’s market share has more than tripled since 1999.

Pierre-Richard Côté is one of those rare HR professionals whose hard work and determination propelled him through the corporate ranks from the position of mail clerk to that of vice president of human resources. His sound judgment and balanced approach gave him the necessary insight to successfully advise, reorient and motivate people. He helped develop outstanding HR professionals who continue to make their mark in the business community today. Pierre-Richard Côté has also been very involved in many Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés committees.

“With the Professionnel émérite award, the Ordre highlights the exceptional work of CHRPs and CIRCs who have contributed on an ongoing basis to the excellence of HR management and industrial relations. Their remarkable achievements are crucial to the advancement of a profession dedicated to what has now become a key competitive factor for any organization – human resources,” commented Alain Desgagné, CHRP, chairman of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés board.
